Accepted Items to shred

Bring any confidential paper documents you no longer need:

Old tax documents (7+ years)
Bank and credit card statements
Pay stubs and utility bills
Medical records (if no ongoing disputes)
Checks, bills, and other sensitive paperwork

(Staples and paper clips are okay)

Not Accepted Items

To keep things running smoothly, please do not bring:

Cardboard, books, magazines, or newspapers
Junk mail
Non-paper items
Binders, hanging folders, or clips

What to Keep vs. Shred

Not everything needs to be saved long-term. Here’s a quick guide:

Keep forever: Birth certificates, Social Security cards, wills, deeds
Keep 7 years: Tax returns and supporting documents
Keep 3–5 years: Bank statements, medical bills, employment records
Keep 1 year: Utility bills and pay stubs

If you don’t need it for taxes, legal purposes, or records, it’s likely safe to shred.
